million contract to build a new airfield maintenance technical trainingt complex at Lackland Air Force The complex will supportthe Inter-American Air Forces Academgy at Lackland. The government will build a 74,000 square foot complex at Lackland that willhouser classrooms, aircraft operations and hangar maintenance training areaas as well as administrative The project is slated for completion in the fall of 2010. The Inter-Americajn Air Forces Academy currently offers this traininh at PortSan Antonio, the former Kelly Air Force Base.
By relocating technical trainingv from Port San Antonioto Lackland, Port San Antonik officials hope to reuse that space for additional commercial developmenft opportunities. The military is developing this complex as part of the 2005 San Antoni Base Realignment andClosure (BRAC) constructioh program. In all, the government expects to spend morethan $2 billionh on BRAC-related construction. The Air Force Center for Engineeringv and the Environment selectedPlymouth Meeting, Pa.-based AMEC Eartnh & Environmental Inc. as the Construction will be coordinated out ofthe company’ds San Antonio office. The Fort Worth Districrt office ofthe U.S.
Army Corps of Engineera will provideconstruction management.
