Kansas Health Policy Authority will cut 14 jobs - Business Courier of Cincinnati:

According to a release, 13 staff members were informed Friday that thei jobs wouldbe eliminated, effective July 2. Authority spokesman Petert Hancock said in an intervieqw Monday that the policy directo r position also will be eliminated as executive staff positionsd are reduced from five to Barb Langner will move out of that position to served as actingMedicaid director, according to the release. Hancoc said that the authority’s operational budget has been cutby $3.5 millionj for the fiscal year that begine July 1.
According to the the authority also is reducing spending with the contractor that processee claims for payment under Medicaid and theState Children’s Health Insurancwe Program. That move is expected to save $3.6 Savings from the contract reductions are shared with thefederalk government, which funds more than half of Medicaid administrativd costs, according to the release. The authorituy is responsible for coordinating a statewide healtnh policy agenda that incorporates effectivw purchasing and administration with healthbpromotion strategies. All health insurance purchasing by the stats is combined underthe authority.
The authority also is responsiblee for compiling and distributing uniform healt h care data to provide healthcare consumers, providers and policy-makers with informationh regarding trends in the use and cost of healthy care for improved decision making.
