Now, under the leadershipo of the younger Hubbuch, who serves as president and CEO, the company works with a wide range of individuall and corporate clients all over Kentucku and in severalother states. Hubbuch took some time to reflecft on how the company has evolvedx overthe years. Why and how was the companyt originally formed? Hubbuch & Co. was formed "inb 1933 by dad. ... He had a grandfathet that lovedthe floor-covering and the wall-coveringh business from the old world (Germany, where the familyu is originally from).
As a little boy, he worked in that grandfather's In 1933, Cornelius Hubbucbh left the familybusiness "to cultivate a design firm across the state of Kentucky," John Hubbuc said. Hubbuch said his father wanted to have locationss in all ofthe state's majorf cities. Today, the company has designb studios in Owensboroand Lexington, in addition to Louisville. "We have always been focusefd on the stateof Kentucky. That makes us a littler bit different" from the other local design "We're in Madisonville a lot; we'red in Henderson a lot." "We are, No. 1, an interior design operation. About 28 years ago we went into the businesaof architecture." What's the furthest distance away the company has done a job? "Atria (Seniotr Living Group) sent us to Sedona, Ariz., Ga., (and to) every new Atriaw facility for the first couple of years" of the company's And "in every one of these cities they wantef a new look." Who are some of your curren t clients? "We are on board with Churchill Downs. ... We are in chargew of the complete for thenew "We just completed 66 corporatw boxes. ...
